Obituary of Edna Irene Brown

Edna Irene Williams Brown was born to Gray and Edith Wardell Williams on December 21, 1938 in Logan County, KY. She passed away on March 27, 2023 in Franklin County, KY, where she and her late husband, David W. Brown made their home.  

She is survived by one sister Earlene Parsons and preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Hallman, Linda Allen, along with a daughter-in-law, Sherry Brown.  

She was the mother of five children, Pam Calvert (David) of Louisville KY, Felita Greer (Bobby) of Georgetown KY, Wendell Brown, Sandy Loman (Stuart), and Donna Whortenbury (Robert) all of Frankfort. She and her husband were blessed with 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.  

She was a homemaker and a caregiver for many children who affectionately called her “Mama Brown”. She enjoyed playing bingo, tending her flower garden, cooking for her family, and bowling when she was physically able. Most of all, she loved her family and tending to their needs. She will be greatly missed by those she left behind but welcomed home with open arms by those loved ones who have gone before her.  

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, from 5-8pm at Clark Legacy Center-Frankfort. Funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday with visitation beginning at 10am, followed by closing words and prayer in the chapel at Sunset Memorial Gardens at noon Saturday, April 1, 2023.
