Obituary of Lula Belle Hunter Owens

Lula Belle Owens, 87, wife of the late Arthur Owens, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 in Frankfort. Lula was born in Nicholasville, Kentucky on March 8, 1935 to the late Cecil and Arkie Baker Hunter. She was a branch manager with the State of Kentucky for many years and a devoted member of the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Keith) Curry of Frankfort; son, Jeff Owens, of Georgetown; and granddaughter, Taylor (Neil) Ellis of Lawrenceburg; and numerous much loved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Lula was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Catherine Hale, Jane McGaughey, and Roberta Long; and her brothers, Charles R. Hunter, William A. Hunter, and Ronald M. Hunter. 

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 4-6pm at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Road. A celebration of life service will follow at 6pm officiated by Rev. Todd Lester. A private burial will be held by family at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society.
