Obituary of Dee Ann Andry

Dee Ann Brown Andry, 78, wife of Paul Louis Andry, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022. Dee was born in Whitehall, Wisconsin on November 23, 1944, to the late Dean Brown and Margaret Nichols. She was a Special Education Teacher, initially in Tiffin, Ohio and later in Mandeville, Louisiana where she met Paul and married. They honeymooned at Snowbird Mountain Lodge in Robbinsville North Carolina where they returned every spring for thirty-three years thereafter for Paul to teach his annual dulcimer workshops. Prior to retirement, they established a store and home in the mountains of Highlands, North Carolina adjacent to the Nantahala National Forest. Dee and Paul recently moved to Lexington, Kentucky for health considerations and to be closer to Family.

Dee enjoyed many activities including games, water aerobics, gardening, travel and family reunions in Long Lake, Wisconsin. Dee was especially fond of her little poodles, Beanie, Kermit the Dog and Mancini (a rescue), she affectionately nicknamed “Mouse”. Dee also attended music festivals with Paul, and camping trips along the Gulf Coast, Key West and points beyond. She always loved a party, especially at Christmas and Mardi Gras.

In addition to her husband Paul, she will be lovingly remembered by her children, Trey (Ellen) Gauthreaux, Susan Elsensohn, Lauren Andry and grandchildren Nathan & Emily Gauthreaux, Nathan & Jack Elsensohn, Gray & Caroline Kimel, sister Pam (and husband Bob Lang), extended family, and limitless friends.

Dee never knew a stranger, was loved by everyone, and welcomed wherever she went. She was always a best friend, a loving mother, devoted sister and a cherished wife to Paul - with a heart of gold.
