Obituary of Michael Larue Cobb

Michael Larue (Mike or M.L.) Cobb, 74, passed away on Sunday, August 7. Mike was born in Lexington, Kentucky and was a graduate of Lafayette High School, class of 1965. Mike had a strong reputation as a home builder and master carpenter for many years. He also opened Squires Tavern in the early 80’s and ran a nice book for a while. After a “Federally Funded” vacation he went back into design/building and managed Bluegrass Truss Company.

Mike is survived by his son Jon, daughter Angela, grandson Zachary, sisters J. Lee McMillan, Alberta Drury, Sandy (Mickey) Johnson, Marcella (Dave) Navey, and bothers Keith (Bobbie) Drury, Sam Drury, Layman (Cubby) Cobb. He is also survived by several ex-wives and many girlfriends – ‘hey baby’ he still loves you.

He was preceded in death by his wife (Sissy) whom he was crazy enough to marry twice.

The family would like to give their thanks to the staff at The Willows in Hamburg as well as Hospice of the Bluegrass for the care they gave Mike.

Considering Mike’s love of telling stories and seeing friends, the family is hosting a memorial/social hour at his favorite haunt, Spuds, located in Pimlico Shopping Center at 3130 Pimlico Parkway, on Sunday August 21 from 2pm-5pm. Please come prepared to share memories and laugh so hard you cry very happy tears in his honor.
