Obituary of Kathleen Hansel

Kathleen Hansel, 71 of Nicholasville, peacefully ascended to Heaven on Monday, February 14, 2022, after struggling with cancer. Preceding her in death are her parents, Bill Ice Jones and Cloda Weston, as well as two sisters (Nadine Liford and Dollie Wooten), three brothers (Norvel, Arthur, and Henry Jones), and a stillborn son.

She was an exceptional wife and mother, leaving behind her loving husband of 53 years, Russell Hansel, and two children: Sandra (Billy) and Angel (James); three grandchildren: Amanda (Brandon), Angel (Chet), and Katelynn (Parker); and four great-grandchildren: Claire, Shawn, Danielle, and Hunter. In addition, she is survived by two sisters: Maxine Todd and Willidean Sallee.

Kathleen, or more often “Granny Kathy” or “Grams”, spent her days making a home for her beloved family. She found pleasure in playing games like Phase 10, her cooking was beyond compare, and she will live on through her lessons for generations. She was a lover of the outdoors, enjoying fishing and gardening, and could always be found cheering on the UK men's basketball team.
