Five years ago when we began growing sorghum. Dr. Bitzer was very helpful answering question and offering advice. It was with great pleasure that we met him this past February when we attended our first NSSPPA Annual Conference in Nashville. We only just now learned that he had passed away and extend our sympathy to the family. It was our great pleasure to actually meet him after several phone calls and many emails over the last few few years. Many of us "the sorghum growers" will also feel his loss.

Morris was so kind, thoughtful, and helpful to me as a daughter-in-law. I will always treasure his love and support to me during a very difficult time in my life. It was very apparent that he loved his 3 children, his wife, and His Lord and Savior very much. He will be missed dearly by us all! We will meet again Morris, on the golden streets "way up yonder"! :)

Morris' influence on sorghum producers is far reaching. You cannot go to a Fall sorghum festival in NC without running into someone who has been encouraged or helped out by him. I have no doubt this is true from Wisconsin to Arkansas to Florida.

On behalf of the Morgan County Sorghum Producers and myself, I am expressing our thoughts of sympathy for the passing of Dr. Bitzer. We are greatly appreciative of the work he did and the difference he truly made. We are acutely aware of the void his passing has left. As a new agent, Dr. Bitzer helped me tremendously and I quickly recognized what an impact he had had on our county and farmers. As I passed the word to our sorghum producers, each had a story to share about Dr. Bitzer - all with a common theme - he improved their lives. For the family, I hope good memories will ease the sorrow of this time.

As a member of the Sorghum Association, I wanted to remember Morris for his unwavering dedication to sorghum production and its producers. He served small producers just the same as large. It did not matter if it was just one pound of seed or just a few ounces of enzymes - he was always willing to help. He was a man of great passion and persuasion. Always got a chuckle as he coaxed the farmer/president to wear a coat and tie at the annual meeting!

I was saddened to hear of Dr. Bitzer's unexpected passing. I had the occasional opportunity to assist Dr. Bitzer in the last few years with his sorghum project here at U.K. Like many others, I too extend my sympathy for your loss.

Dr. Bitzer was one of my professors at UK. I truly enjoyed him and his class. He was a fine man.
May God truly bless you all as you go through this time of suffering. "May the Lord bleass you and keep you; may the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26

Morris helped us get started notilling. In 1983 he recomended me to go to Brazil to help them adopt notill practices to save the soil. It was an experience of a lifetime. Morris has been a wonderful friend through the years and will be missed. Albert Einstein said "The one who gets the most out of life today is considered to be successful but I submit to you that the one who gives the most will be remembered". Morris was a giver.

Morris and I began our career in Extension together. We really had a wonderful sucess during our time together. Numerous field events to modernize local corn production. One that stands out was the delima Morris was worring about harvesting out plots seiged by severe wet weather.
My good friend, the locaql jailer lent us enough inmates to hand harvest what would have been lost, and sucessfully complet that portion of the research. We all had a good time, caped off with candy bars and soft drinks that the inmates weren"t suppose to have.
I' treasure our time and memories together.
Jack Ewing, Extension Agent Ag. Nat. Rs.
